Mia's 4th Birthday: Fairy Woodland Party

How on earth do I already have 4 year old?! Eric and I feel so very blessed to be Mia's parents and see what an amazing little girl she it. Mia loves to help especially with cooking and crafts, is sweet and very sensitive about her feelings, thoughtful about others, gets along with just about anyone, loves to color/draw, sing and play with friends. She is definitely our little social butterfly. My favorite thing over the last few days is when she wakes up she cleans her room, makes the bed and gets dressed all by herself! She says that she can do that now because she is 4. It's pretty much amazing since I never really taught her to do that. One day she just saw my bed made and decided to make her's. Once she saw how surprised and happy I was she's continued to doing it. Hopefully this is a long phase lol!

Anyway, back to her birthday...in April. It was another year of my being undeceive of what I should do for her birthday. Mia kept asking for a birthday party since getting to go to all of her friends parties; she specifically wanted a fairy party. I've been a little hesitant about birthday parties because first off they sound a little intense with a ton of little kids running around, needing entertainment and I really hate to make birthdays revolved around having a party to get lots of presents. Usually we just invite family over and celebrate that way, but we don't live by family anymore. About a week before I just decided I was going to have fun with it and do one! The upside to having thrown a lot of different kinds of parties in the past is I'm pretty equip with party supplies so that made it really nice and gave me the room to splurge on some things to make my life easier. 

I had Mia list out who she wanted to invite and she picked out the invites. She was over the moon about getting to help plan her party, because she is her mother's daughter and loves all things crafts and parties already. In the short week it came together easily and turned out SO stinking cute!

One of the things I splurged on, mostly for my own enjoyment, was the cake. A friend in my ward make amazing cakes and ever since trying them I was looking for any excuse to get one. She also does a super cute job on decorating them too. I had her do little fondant fairies to look like Mia and Livy.  

Livy, of course joined in on and enjoyed the birthday festivities as well.

Another thing I splurged on (although being quite affordable) was having Tinker Bell come to the party. Mia was SO excited about this and I'm not going to lie that I may have been too...although for other reasons. Through this company here in Utah you can get Disney characters to come to your party and they literally do all the entertaining for an hour! Eric and I just got to sit back and watch as Tinker Bell entertained 7 kids. They read a story, sang songs, played games, took pictures and did a craft.

I'm afraid I might have set the standard a little too high for future birthdays as this won't be happening every year but I must say it was pretty fun to do.

Picnic Themed Birthday Party

Last weekend my sister and I had a combined birthday party for our sweet little girls! They were born almost exactly a year apart and since I could possibly be having a baby on Mia's real birthday we decided to do something together and celebrate a little earlier with close friends and family.

Our theme for the girl's birthday party was a "Spring" picnic at a local park, but sadly the weather was far from spring like. Luckily, that didn't scare anyone away and we were able to have a really great time!

Our original plan was to have everyone take their packed lunches and some blankets and sit out on the grass when the kids played, but because of the wind and overcast weather we decided to stay under the pavilion.

The girls sat together to open their presents. It was fun to watch Mia get a little more excited about opening presents then she has in the past. She got some really cute things.

Aah! I can't believe I have a two year old! She has been so fun to watch grow and I can't wait to see all the new things she will learn in this next year of her life. Eric and I have been so blessed to have been given the unique and happy girl that Mia is.

Annual Robertson 4th of July

Most years since Eric and I have been together we have gone home for the 4th of July. We originally planned this year to stay in Utah and enjoy the festivities here since I have never done that, but everyone else was going home so we decided to go home as well so we could all be together for what I believe is the first holiday we've all been home.

The weather in Ely was beautiful...so beautiful that I got up in the mornings with my mom to go walking and we enjoyed every evening visiting on the back porch. There is nothing like the mornings and evenings in Ely with the peace and quiet and fresh air! By the second day in Ely Tyler, Annelise and Sophia came and Sophia and Mia played from then on until we left. Those two were so fun to watch play together. It was basically Mia following Sophia around where ever she went. It was the cutest to see them sitting together and they would just start looking and giggling back and forth at each other. They even enjoyed an afternoon in this kiddie pool my mom got while us women got some sun on our legs as we watched them.

Mom, Annelise and I also enjoyed some girl time by painting our toe nails for the 4th. Sophia of course already loves getting her nails painted, but when we decided to try it on Mia she acted as if we were torturing her. More evidence that I think we have a tom-boy on our hands! Sara, Collin and Addi arrived late Tuesday night so we had Wednesday to celebrate the 4th together as a family as well as my Grandpa Bohn and Grandpa and Grandma Robertson. It was so fun to have everyone there!

We started the 4th by going to the annual ward breakfast where they do a little program and serve cinnamon rolls and fruit. Then we went to Ely's 4th of July parade. To be honest I would never recommend just going to Ely's parades for the sake a seeing the parade, but more for having fun with the family as well as seeing the kids enjoy it. Mia clapped and pointed as all the floats and cars went by and enjoyed some candy that was thrown.

We had the three girls in there adorable matching outfits and had to snap some pictures of them all together.

After the parade we had our annual BBQ with all the yummy food we only ever seem to eat on the 4th of July. We changed in up a little this year by setting up a table on the back porch and actually sitting around a table instead of doing it buffet style and all sitting where ever there is a chair. Annelise and I got a little creative with the table settings to make it more festive. The rest of the afternoon was spend enjoying the weather outside, the girls playing with Grandpa on the swing set, visiting and eating food until we couldn't possibly eat any more!

Since Eric had testing for work the next day we heading home that night so we missed the fireworks, but we were able to see all there different fireworks going off across the city on our way into town which was fun to see. We had such a fun time with everyone! It's made me see how crazy it's going to get once we all have more kids, but also excited for when all the cousins can play together!
