Happy Halloween!

The month of October flew by for us! It was filled with road trips, job interviews, our annual Halloween Party, Mia's 6th month mark, baking, crafting, tests, and football games!

About a week ago Eric went to Vernal to go hunting, so I decided to go home for the week while he was away. Mia was of course spoiled by Grandpa and Grandma and mom and I had fun sewing blankets and pants for Mia, making cards, baking cookies, and of course watching our sappy (as the boys would say) Hallmark movies. And sorry, I failed again to take pictures of this trip :( Eric also had a good week home, but still didn't have much luck bringing anything home, but is still enthusiastic for next year. After being away from each other for a week, we were both getting kind of home sick so Eric surprised me by coming home early...and let me tell you, it was definitely a surprise! I had just gotten into bed and was laying there when I saw a figure in the hallway, I was so scared! I thought someone had broken into our apartment! Anyway, it was good to have him back home!

For the Halloween weekend, we had our Annual Halloween Party on Saturday! For the last 3 years my sister and I have put on a Halloween party and each year I go through this phase of loving to plan a party and entertain to "why the heck do I do this every year!" It can be a lot of work to throw a party for a lot of people, but in the end I always circle back to enjoying it. For this years party we realized we had invited a lot more people then last year and one of our small apartments was not going to work so we rented out a room at a place called Noah's in Lindon. We got a good deal on in and it ended up being a perfect  and "homey" place where we could spread out a little. We had dinner and then played games. One being the Just Dance game for the Kinect and there was laughs all around when doing the boys vs. girls. It was another successful party! Thanks to everyone who was able to make it and we missed those who couldn't be there and to babysitters who let some of us parents enjoy a night out!

These are the invites to the party. They turned out really cute!

I couldn't resist taking pictures when the boys went on the Just Dance game. It was entertaining to watch!

Other then our party, Halloween was pretty low key. In feeling guilty that everyone was dressing up their kids for Halloween, I crocheted Mia a Minion hat from the movie "Despicable Me". For doing so last minute I thought it turned out cute and I just love Mia in hats! Since we didn't go trick-or-treating I had her wear it to the store.

Now for my quick general notes so this post doesn't end up a novel (sorry), Eric has had quite a few job interviews this month for jobs after he graduates in April. Our biggest lead on a job so far is one in Portland Oregon. He's had two interviews so far and now they are flying him out for a final interview this weekend. I'm both nervous and excited. I had really set my sights on staying here in Utah to be close to both our families so I'm really having to rely on faith that the Lord will take our family where ever is best for us.

As I also mentioned earlier, Mia is now 6 months! She is going to be a year before we know it. She is now sitting up all by herself, is starting to figure out how to crawl by putting her legs under her, is getting better at eating solid food, says "da-da" and just talks (very loudly) all day long! She's even got the camera face down where when I pull it out to take a picture she does this little smirk. Basically, she gives me more and more reasons every day to make me love her even more!

Mia practicing getting her legs under her to crawl. We'll see how long it actually takes her to do it!

Girl's Weekend at Grandpa Bohn's

As I mentioned in a previous post, at the beginning of the month my mother, sister, sister-in-law, her daughter, Mia and I went to visit my Grandpa Bohn. We spent at least a good 11 hours traveling that whole weekend and with two girls under the age of 2 we weren't quite sure how things would go, but 11 hours later and only about 2-3 major melt downs between the two girls and I would call that a success! When we were at Grandpa Bohn's we decided to have a Grandma Bohn party in honor of my grandma who passed away last April. When my sister and I would spent a couple of weeks at my grandparents house each summer my grandma would always have treats on hand, let us order what we wanted when the Schwann's man came, have little parties using all of grandma's fun dishes, and do lot's of tying quilts and puzzles. Sooooo...we did exactly that for our Grandma party. We make her famous and much loved chocolate pillows and chocolate cookies with marshmallows (complete with fun dishes), had Schwann's lasagna for dinner, and did a puzzled. We enjoyed visiting with Grandpa and listening to all the stories he had to tell. It was a another fun and memorial weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Bohn's!

This is one of the ways we tried to entertain the girls on the long trip.
P.S. Stay tuned for more posts to follow about all the happenings in October and of course pictures
of the cutie pie herself...Mia.

Fall!

My favorite season of the year is fall! I love when the trees change colors, the crisp air and the start of the holidays! Yesterday after church we went for a drive up the canyon with our friend and needless to say it was BEAUTIFUL! Here are few pictures from our drive.

Now for my usual "general" updates. Mia and I just got back from a long trip to go see my Grandpa Bohn with my mom, sister, sister-in-law and her daughter. Then we drove down to Ely a couple of days and then back here to Provo. The two little girls, Mia and Sophia did pretty good for driving so many hours and we had some good visited with everyone else. Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon and a post on the trip!

Mia is getting bigger and bigger everyday day and Eric and I are just loving all the things she is learning to do. She is now talking more then ever (still no actual words), sitting up more by herself, eating more solid foods, and starting to try to get her knees under her. Here are some recent pictures of this cutie pie!

Working Out Part 2: Zumba

Ok pretty much everyone already knows that Zumba is becoming the new popular workout (if not, now you know). This is one of those things that I heard lots about and kind of turned my nose up at it, not wanting to conform to the latest thing especially since it meant dancing which I'm not all that great at, however, I let my prideful self be humbled and gave it a try!

My friend Ashly and I wanted to switch up our workouts so we weren't always in the gym, so we thought we would try Zumba. I found zumba.com and there you can type in where you live and it will bring up tons of Zumba classes being taught on all different days and at different times. We went to one tonight (Tuesday) that a lady teaches at an LDS chapel on 1221 W 500 N. Ashly and I are always trying new things together and this was another fun experience to add to our list. There were lots of people so it didn't seem the focus was on you and basically...we LOVED it! It was a great cardio workout for an hour, lot's of fun, and (my favorite part) FREE! Plus, it was at 9pm-10pm which is after all the kids are in bed so a lot more women are free to go. So what I'm getting at is...you should all give it a try and even join us on Tuesday nights!

And try not to laugh too hard at the picture of our sweaty and exhausted selves after Zumba. Ashly suggest I blog about our experience and what's a blog post without a picture?!

Family Pictures

Here's just a picture post of our family pictures! I think they turned out really cute, even if Mia didn't really smile in any of them. She was having a very passive morning when we took them. We got our pictures done  at Wadley Farm near Salt Lake. Here is the blog of the girl who took our pictures. http://elliebeanphotography.blogspot.com/ She did a great job for a great price!

Enjoy!
